Stratosphere Vegas: Stay at the Most Famous Landmark in Town

stratosphere vegas With all the excitement of seeing the views and riding the rollercoasters at the top of the Stratosphere Vegas tower, people often forget that they can also stay in the Stratosphere Casino Hotel.

The Stratosphere is positioned right at the top end of the strip, so it’s not in the hub of the main Strip activity, which accounts for the favorable rates you can enjoy there. But, don’t think you are going to be left out of the excitement of Vegas; the Stratosphere is ideally situated to be within easy reach of both the main Strip and downtown Vegas. From your base at the Stratosphere Vegas you can enjoy the best of the old and new Sin City. Experience the glitz and glamour of newer casinos such as the Venetian, MGM Grand and Caesar’s Palace, or take a walk through the old town and see the Golden Nugget, Lady Luck and the Fremont Hotel.

Transport is excellent from the Stratosphere too, with the Monorail starting at the nearby Sahara casino and buses running regularly along the Strip. During the day both the main Strip and Downtown Vegas are a short walk away (although it’s not recommended to walk around the area at night).

You could stay at the Stratosphere Vegas and never even leave its walls. The Stratosphere Tower Casino and Hotel has everything a Vegas visitor could ask for. As well as the famous tower, offering the best views of Vegas and the most exiting thrill rides in town, the casino offers all the gambling choices you would expect in Las Vegas in 80,000 square feet of tables and slots, as well as a poker room with daily tournaments.

For eats there are a variety of cafes and restaurants to choose from: Fellini’s Ristorante Italiano, Hamada Asian Village, and Roxy’s diner, to name but a few. Plus, there’s the Top of the World restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal with the best views in the city as you revolve a full 360 degrees at 800 feet above the ground (voted “Best Gourmet Room” by a reader poll in the Las Vegas Review-Journal).

Entertainment is taken care of in the Theater of the Stars as well as a number of clubs, bars, and lounges offering live music, the American Superstars show, and two risqué revue shows. Or you can relax next to one of the two swimming pools, workout in the indoor or outdoor fitness centers, get pampered in the Roni Josef Spa and Salon or shop in the mall.

The Stratosphere Vegas has everything a visitor to Las Vegas could want. They offer great value to all their visitors and make sure they continue to compete with the hotels on the main strip through regular renovations and excellent prices. Not to mention they have the benefit of being a part of the most famous landmark in town.

Stratosphere Las Vegas

Check out this video of the Big Shot ride at the top of the Stratosphere Vegas. There’s a bit of a wait for the ride to start but it’s worth waiting for. And the video of the view around the tower is lovely.

is the stratosphere hotel in las vegas at the top or the bottom?

is it where the resturant is or is it at the bottom or on the side (ground level) of the stratosphere?

The “Top of the World” restaurant is 900ft up. The hotel does not quite reach that height.

Stratosphere Vegas…. and Why I’m a Wuss!

On my last trip to Sin City, one of the highlights of the visit was supposed to be enjoying the rides at the top of the Stratosphere Vegas. stratosphere vegas xscream

Part of my trip to Vegas was to see my friend get married and she and her parents are thrill ride fanatics. I’ve always loved a good rollercoaster so I initially agreed to join them on Insanity and X-Scream. Of course, when I saw how high the Stratosphere Vegas was close up (the photos don’t do it justice) I started to regret my decision. Thankfully, the only evening they had free to go up the Tower, I was watching Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian with my sister.

Later in the week, on our own visit to Stratosphere I was quick to chicken out – I got butterflies just watching – and without my friend there to egg me on I didn’t even come close to buying that ticket. Instead I enjoyed watching everyone else freaking out on the rides and taking lots of video and photos. I also enjoyed simply being at the top of the Stratosphere and taking in the amazing views.

Part of me wishes I’d had the courage to try at least one of the rides on top of the Stratosphere Vegas but I know I will be visiting again and who knows? I may just pluck up the courage to take the plunge (not literally, I hope).

Stratosphere Vegas: Thrills and Excitement at the Top of Vegas

The Stratosphere Vegas truly is at the top of Vegas. Not only does it stand as a sentinel at the top of the famous Las Vegas Strip, but it is also the tallest structure in Vegas, offering an amazing view of the whole of the city and beyond. At 1149 feet above the Strip, the Stratosphere presents some of the best photo opportunities in town!

Of course, the reason many visitors to Vegas head to the Stratosphere is to experience the ultimate thrill rides at the top (or at least to watch in horror as others enjoy them). If you are an adrenaline junkie and love your scary rides, they don’t get much more terrifying than this. Probably considered the most tame of the three rides, Big Shot takes you to the highest point possible on the tower; but this is no gentle elevator. You are raised 160 feet in just 2.5 seconds, enjoying the same feeling of weightlessness as astronauts, with 4Gs of force.

Then there are the 2 rides that actually take you over the edge of the Stratosphere Vegas. Insanity hangs its riders over the side of the tower using a spider-like arm. Then you are spun in a circle causing you to tilt forward slightly, giving you a great view of the tarmac nearly 1000 feet down.

Finally, X-Scream involves a giant teetertotter (seesaw) that shoots a rollercoaster car out over the side of the Stratosphere tower. Just when the rails run out the car stops suddenly to give riders an awe inspiring view (if they still have their eyes open). Finally, the arm is tilted up again and they roll back to the tower. Let’s just say, that if the car didn’t stop you’d probably end up in the Sahara’s Nascar cafe!

Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the delights of the Stratosphere tower. On busy days you will be given a time slot when you buy your tickets, and even then there is usually a queue for the elevators to the top (and the standard security checks).

But there’s more to the Stratosphere Vegas than a great view and thrill rides. The Stratosphere Tower Hotel offers over 2000 rooms in two 24-storey buildings and an 80,000 square foot casino. It has everything you would expect of a Las Vegas resort – shopping mall, theatre, swimming pool and leisure center.
